Prep Hot Tub For Edmonton Winter

One of the great times to enjoy your hot tub is in the winter, as a way to warm up. Although Edmonton winters do get too cold to allow participation in many outdoor activities, the same does not have to be true about using your hot tub. You can follow a few steps to allow your hot tub to continue to run efficiently as the temperatures drop. These tips will help you keep heating costs down all season long.

1 - Clean It

One of the biggest parts of hot tub ownership after choosing the right hot tub is keeping it clean. This is especially important if you want it to run well in the cold weather. So, drain the water out and scrub everything from the filters to the shell to the vents with a spa cleanser.

2 - Refill the shell and activate “freeze protection”

“Freeze protection” is the function that will stop the hot tub water from becoming frozen if the temperature in the surrounding air gets too low. To figure out how to activate this feature in your hot tub, read the hot tub’s instruction manual. You may be able to turn it on by powering on “standard mode.”

3 - Get a hot tub cover that will keep the heat in

Now that freeze protection is on, you need to prevent the heat from the water from escaping the hot tub as much as you are able to do this. A great quality cover will make a difference, if you keep it on always when you’re not using the hot tub.

You can keep your Edmonton hot tub running efficiently and helping you to stay warm this winter by following these tips. Get prepared for the winter with World of Spa’s cleaners and accessories, to help you along the way.
